Leah Ferrone on the attention crisis and creating mindful digital wellbeing

In this episode of The Deep Dive, Chloe sits down with educator and mindfulness practitioner Leah Ferrone to explore what it really means to live well with technology. Together, they unpack the emotional toll of screen saturation, the challenges facing kids and families in a digital-first world, and how mindfulness can help us reclaim our attention and sense of self.

You’ll walk away with real tools, deeper questions, and a fresh take on what it means to be fully present in the age of distraction.

Intergenerational conversation may be more important than ever before.

We know that our youth is experiencing a crisis with the effects of our digitally saturated world - - it's also important to remember they didn't ask for this, and they don't know anything different.

To really change the tide, us grownups need to be curious about their experience and start meaningful conversations about what real change can look like.

Many grownups feel trapped by tech domination and how to right the ship for their children, but guess what, their children feel trapped and scared too.

I sat down with one of the most inspired teens I have yet to meet to talk about this topic.

I'm thrilled to introduce you to Chloe Yang. As a rising Junior, she is the founder of Me, Myself and I, a healing mindfulness journal. She has published research papers and produces a podcast. She is creative, kind and deeply hungry for knowledge and experiences.

Fixing the phone-based rewiring of childhood (and adulthood) is an intergenerational job. Let's get to work, together. Digital wellbeing is possible for each of us.

ps: At the 19:00 marker we begin to talk about the difference between solicitude and loneliness, and that for many teens it feels unbearable to be in silence, alone with themselves (thoughts, feelings....). 💔

pps: Of course, I'd like to thank and credit Jonathan Haidt for so much of the knowledge I have gained on this topic as well as his steadfast advocacy and research. hashtag#TheAnxiousGeneration
